KPU: Legislators with Unreported Wealth May Not be Inaugurated

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta’s General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) Commissioner Nurdin announced that legislator hopefuls must submit their electronic wealth report (LHKPN) to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Nurdin threatens that legislators who do not adhere to KPU’s call will risk their inauguration.
“Those who don’t report their LHKPN will not be submitted in the list of inaugurated legislators. They will keep their rightful votes but will not be inaugurated,” he said today, April 9, to Tempo at Hotel Merlynn Park, Gambir, in Central Jakarta.
Those who have yet submitted their LHKPN are given one week after KPU has officially determined elected legislators.
“The follow up will wait for information from KPU central. It’s still being discussed,” said Nurdin.
KPK spokesman previously said that 50 Jakarta Council members have reported their wealth through the LHKPN from a total of 106 members. Many of those members are running again in the 2019 general elections.
